Dear Alumni
As you know Windsor High School and Sixth Form has been the lead school for several years in the
Windsor Academy Trust (WAT). The Trust currently consists of three schools, with plans underway to expand to five in the next six months. Alongside this, due to the success of the Trust, we have been approached by many other schools to provide advice and asked by the Department for Education to provide support for other schools, including high profile schools in Birmingham.
The Board of Directors are seeking to capitalise on this success by building further capacity and experience both, for WAT, and within Windsor High School and Sixth Form itself.
The WAT Board Directors have asked Mr Sorrell to focus fully on the full time role of WAT Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This is a role he has been doing for two and a half years in addition to the role of Headteacher at Windsor. During this time we have experienced tremendous success, with Windsor gaining its best ever results last summer and recruitment at its highest in the sixth form. It is the plan therefore that he will become CEO from September 2015 while retaining a special interest in the sixth form, which he brought to the school in 2010.
We will be advertising for a new Headteacher and seeking one of experience to provide full focus upon the development of Windsor while the trust undergoes further expansion. Mr Sorrell will continue to have oversight of the work of Windsor and will work closely with the new Headteacher to ensure that Windsor continues to be a flagship school for Dudley and the West Midlands in all that it does.
Colin White
Chair of Directors
