During International Careers’ Week, we were delighted to welcome our former student, Chadsley Atkins, back to Windsor High School and Sixth Form.
Chad now holds a prestigious Graduate Career Scheme post in project management for the U.K. based engineering services company, Babcock, thanks to his language learning skills.
Chad’s morning visit on Tuesday 10th March involved him presenting engaging talks to Year 10 and 11 students explaining how studying GCSE and A Level German helped him, not only to procure his current role, but also secure work at the Goethe Institute in Sydney, Australia, whilst a student on his year abroad.
Chad explained how having knowledge of one language helped him to learn Italian as Babcock are currently expanding into this country as well as many other countries in Europe. His most important message to students was that even if you have a small amount of language learning knowledge, it is a huge asset to prospective employers. Babcock were so impressed with Chad’s language skills, alongside his degree in physics, that they were quick to offer him a job due to their plans for international expansion.
